What is General Psychiatric Review?

If your child/adolescent is suffering from a mental health condition that is impacting their personal academic or social life our Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist are here to provide you with an in-depth assessment, providing treatment and ongoing recommendations. No two children are the same which is why our clinicians offer specific support and tools for you and your child.

A General Psychiatric Review is a highly specialist assessment for diagnosis and treatment of a range of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression and OCD. These assessments are conducted by a psychiatrist who is a medically qualified Doctor. Our lead Consultant Dr Nambi holds a fellowship in Psychiatry and has a wide experience of working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.

All our assessments are person-centred using a holistic approach in helping to identify the concerns raised by families, education provisions and the child/adolescent. We aim to create a patient-focused approach which puts your child’s mental health well-being above all else, ensuring that the best options for managing your child’s symptoms whilst causing as little disruption to their life as possible.

Our consultants will conduct an in-depth assessment discussing diagnosis and creating care and treatment plan options. A treatment plan may include Therapeutic Interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Family Therapy.

Medication options can be discussed and provided following National Healthcare Guidelines and once at the correct therapeutic dose can be transferred back to your primary care provider. An in-depth report will be created and sent to your primary care provider and school with your consent. Appointments can be offered both Face-to-face and virtually.
